There seems to be a new trend in applying shadows to objects on the web. Shadows, of course, help define regions, and add a bit of dimensionality to what is otherwise an essentially flat medium. And with the advent of a new batch of html and css goodies, one must allow for a little over-exuberance on the part of website owners--especially those who do their own design.
